Coming right up: a sea of green! August 7 2018 News

While Norah, our leader and farm manager extraordinaire, is taking a much needed break in the Alaskan Wilderness, we the farm crew vow not to skip a beet! This week we are gearing up to plant out your fall Brassicas, while simultaneously focusing on cover cropping beds that are ready to be put to rest. We feel that it is important to replenish the nutrients and organic matter that is lost after multiple harvests by sowing oats (and eventually rye). This practice helps us continue to be a sustainable farm, one where we value the quality of our soil over the convenience of conventional additives. It might take a little extra work, but it makes all the difference. Plus, it’s pretty darn beautiful looking out at a field of newly sprouted oats. Nothing but a sea of green! We welcome questions, so feel free to ask us if you can see our heads poking above the plants.
And now onto this weeks bounty!
