What is Community-Supported Agriculture (CSA)?

Community-Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a model of local food distribution that ties together a community and its farmers.

Local folks like you purchase a “share” of a farm’s harvest before the start of each season, when the farmer most needs capital for seeds, soil amendments, labor and supplies. When the harvest season arrives, you receive weekly portions of ultra-fresh, local produce all summer long!

Joining a CSA allows you to share in the risks and benefits of a year of farming—building a stronger local agricultural and economic landscape in the process. Becoming a member of Sweetland Farm’s CSA is a great way to support a local woman-owned farm, connect with the food you eat, and much, much more!

Variety. We grow 100+ different varieties of vegetables, providing your favorite staples as well as the occasional new and exciting wildcard to try out. Other products are seasonally available at the Farm Store, including our own pastured-raised pork and chicken.

Value. We provide 24 weeks of fresh-from-the-farm vegetables at a 10-30% savings compared to an equivalent amount of organic produce purchased at a retail grocery store. In addition, you will have free access to our pick-your-own crops at the farm—flowers, herbs, and additional seasonal veggies—and will receive a weekly newsletter with recipes, farm news, storage tips, and more. PLUS CSA members get a seasonal discount on ALL purchases in our farm stand!

Convenience. We offer a three different share sizes and a variety of payment options to fit your needs. Share pickup is easy! Our farm is located just 6 miles from Norwich on Route 132. Can’t make it to the farm? Choose to have your box pre-packed and pick it up Friday afternoon at our DHMC pop-up market.

Community/Events. We encourage you to visit to the farm on a weekly basis (during member visiting hours) to peruse our pick-your-own offerings, enjoy a picnic, walk our fields, or visit our animals. You will also receive invitations to participate in on-farm events, like yoga classes, potluck dinners, pop-up tastings, and community celebrations.
